A cheeky girl who loves a cuddle.

Greenhill Gina (Genie) is a beautiful black female who has recently joined our care. At 3 years and 2 months old, she is a lovely size, weighing in at 30kg. Genie is a very friendly and cheeky girl who absolutely loves cuddles, so be prepared for plenty of affection!. She has a high energy level, making her a perfect match for an active family who loves to get out and about. Genie is a social butterfly who gets on well with other dogs and is suitable for homes with children and the elderly. She also has excellent manners, walking well on the lead and travelling well in the car.

Walking Update: Genie

Genie settled quickly in the car, standing only a few times to look out of the window. When we arrived at the park, she jumped out of the boot and almost immediately accepted strokes from a passing man (who mentioned he’d send HHH a donation using the QR code!).

She was excited and a little vocal upon seeing other hounds arriving, but remained quiet beyond that. While the boots I brought from the kennels weren't a success—falling off a few times within the first few hundred yards—Genie was perfectly comfortable walking without them.

Temperament & Handling

  • Socialization: She wasn't fazed by her surroundings, adults, children, or dogs of various breeds (on or off-lead). She showed zero reactivity toward birds or other distractions.

  • Affection: She was happy to be stroked by strangers and waited patiently whenever we stopped for a break.

  • Lead Manners: She walked well on the lead. While she likes to be at the front of the pack and may pull slightly to get there, it wasn't a problem at all.

Journey Home

For the drive back, Genie let me lift her into the car easily. She was settled for the entire journey; in fact, she was so comfortable that she made no attempt to get out when we arrived! One of the other volunteers helped me lift her out so she could head back inside.

It was a pleasure to take Genie on the Sefton Park walk today. She didn't attempt to jump into the boot of the car but was happy for me to lift her in by her front feet first, then her back end. She showed considerable interest in the farmer’s dog that was running around the car park, but not so much as to be a problem.

Genie soon settled in the car, standing only a few times to look out of the window. When we arrived at the park, she had been sick—only undigested kibble—but she didn’t appear distressed by it. She jumped out of the boot and almost immediately accepted strokes from a passing man (who mentioned he’d send HHH a donation using the QR code, by the way).

As we set off for the park entrance, Genie had very liquid diarrhoea, but again, she showed no signs of discomfort. She was excited and a little vocal upon seeing other hounds arriving, but remained quiet beyond that.

The "Vibram" boots I’d brought from the kennels weren’t a success, as they fell off three times within the first few hundred yards; however, Genie showed no discomfort walking without them. She walked well on the lead and, whilst interested in her surroundings, wasn't phased by adults, children, birds, or dogs of any breed (on or off lead). She displayed no reactivity at all. She was happy for people to stroke her and waited patiently during stops.

She liked to walk at the front of the pack and would pull a little to get there 😅, but it wasn't a major issue. For the drive back, Genie again let me lift her front end, then her back end, into the car. She was settled for the whole journey and made no attempt to get out when we arrived 😅🙄, so one of the other volunteers helped me lift her out.
