What our Volunteers say: Shell

What can we say about this little cherub! If you like a dog with amazing energy, big character, and so much love to give... Leah is your girl!

We first took Leah home to explore our home environment, and boy, did she explore! She was looking high and low, in and out of everything. She was completely inquisitive about everything and was so eager to learn.

She made herself right at home in our summer house, throwing herself on the sofa and nestling into my son.

She was really intrigued by the stairs and walked up one at first, then froze. We decided to see how she would do guiding her up. You could tell they really scared her, as when she got to the top, she nestled her head into me. With lots of praise, she was fine not long after; especially when she saw my bed, she jumped right on! On the way down, I had to stand in front and guide her down. But by halfway down, she seemed to get the hang of it! After that first encounter, she was eager to go back upstairs again!

After this, we went out for lunch. She was brilliant; she had a nosey at what food we had, but she wasn’t too fussed and settled down on a blanket. We were seated by a mini play area, and she was so happy watching other children play.

After lunch, we went for a short walk on the meadows near our home to see if we could encounter other dogs and gauge her reaction to them. Again, she was eager to see what they were and was constantly turning to watch them walk past. We came by three Labradors off the lead, and at first, I was a little worried if there would be a reaction, but she stood there with no reaction and let them sniff her. She only reacted when they were leaving by jumping as if to say, "Don't leave, I want to play too!"

After getting home, she had some zoomies in the garden and a big play with my two children (13, 10). She was so playful and very gentle with them—an absolute pleasure to have around.

This girl has so much love to give; she can be gentle, wild, bouncy, calm, and silly all rolled into one. Her eagerness to learn and explore the world makes her the perfect grey to introduce to any family. She was fantastic with my children, following them and constantly wanting to give them all her love. Whoever gets this girl will be ever so lucky!
