What our Volunteers say: Emma

I had a lovely morning with Miller! He hopped straight into my car and enjoyed sticking his head out the window as we drove slowly down Holly Bush Lane. He did squeak at a pheasant that was casually running alongside the car, but there was no barking, and he eventually lay down for the rest of the drive to Delamere Forest.

He seemed a little nervous upon arrival, so we sat on a bench for a while to watch the world go by. We then met my nephew and his support workers for a walk. Miller was lovely and calm throughout; my nephew is autistic and can be quite loud, but Miller wasn’t bothered by him at all and really enjoyed walking with the group.

Miller is excellent with other dogs. He didn't react to any dogs walking past, and he even met a 7-month-old black Lab that was off-lead. The Lab was mooching around and sniffing him, but Miller wasn't bothered at all—his tail was even wagging! He does tend to stop when he sees little dogs, but he just watches them curiously without reacting or barking.

We also visited the cafe, where he stayed tucked in next to my legs without any fuss. Miller is a beautiful, gentle boy who walks perfectly on the lead. He is an absolute beauty and will make someone very happy!

Lovely day out with Miller today 😊. I've looked through what Emma reported on his last outing and I totally agree with her: he is a beautiful, gentle boy.

We went to Rivington, which was very busy today with lots of walkers, dogs, and motorbikes. Neither bothered Miller one little bit. We went to the cafe, which was also very busy; we had to queue, and he was the perfect gent, enjoying fusses from people while we waited. Outside, he got cuddles from a little boy and accepted them as though it was an everyday occurrence 😊.

He jumped into the back seat of the car and travelled beautifully, alternating between standing and lying down.

After Rivington, I took him home. I couldn't take him in the house as I have an elderly cat; however, they did see each other through a glass door. Miller didn't seem interested—he looked briefly, then wandered off and didn't go back. My cat, on the other hand, looked furious! 🤣 (He can't have been overly upset, though, as he didn’t run away).

I think Miller will be a lovely dog for whoever takes him 😊.
