Dory

A beautiful black girl waiting to show her true personality.

Crystal Grumpy (Dory) is a lovely black female who has recently arrived and is looking for her forever home. Born in April 2024, she is a young girl at 2 years and 2 months old. As she is a new arrival, we are still getting to know her and allowing her to settle in, so we don't have a full description of her personality just yet!

Because she is newly with us, we are currently still assessing her suitability with children, cats, and other dogs. We are also evaluating how she walks on a lead, how she travels, and her general energy levels as she transitions into a home environment.

  • Age: 2 years 2 months

  • Sex: Female

  • Colour: Black

  • Child friendly: Unknown

  • Gets on with other dogs: Unknown

  • Pet friendly: Unknown (Cat friendly status unknown)

  • Personality: Currently being assessed as she settles in

  • Ideal home: A patient home willing to let her settle and show her true colors

What our Volunteers say: Angela

Beautiful Dora, the person that is about to become your human is one lucky person. From the minute I picked you up, you were adorable and won me over! 🥰

She struggled to climb into the car (a big car for a little girl) and didn’t particularly like getting in (had to be lifted), but once in she settled straight down and didn’t move until we arrived home. There weren’t any issues getting out.

In the house she was as good as gold. Explored every nook and cranny. Like a toddler, if it moved she wanted to touch it! A lot of "no's" were said in the first hour, but she got the message. She found her new toys 🧸 and proceeded to play with those. Oh, and what is this obsession greys have with shoes? Another collector here, no chewing just collecting! 🤣 She had a couple of accidents but not her fault as I misread her signs! The big black picture box was very scary at first, she really wasn’t sure about it, as was the dishwasher, waste bin, and kitchen drawers. For some reason, the fridge was ok though! 🤣

Soon after arriving she discovered the garden and squirrels! (Good job I have a high fence! 🤣) and that was it, I couldn’t get her in as she had so much fun just playing.

I took her to my local golf club cafe/bar where we could sit outside and see what was going on. Nothing really phased her apart from the golfing carts. Lots of people came to say hello and she took it all in her stride. She loved my friend as she bought her a sausage, which she wolfed down! I also took her to the carnival but forgot to take any pictures there. It was all a little overwhelming for her and she didn’t like the loudspeaker or the drums. Everything else she coped very well with; other people wanting to say hello and dog breeds both large and small she again took in her stride. Took her home after a couple of hours where she flaked out on her bed until she decided it was time to go into the garden again.

When it came to bed time the first night I stayed with her, but the second night I went up to bed. She whined a bit and I could hear her moving around, but she settled down and I got the most gorgeous greeting in the morning and, more importantly, no accidents. 🥰

This morning we went for a little walk round the block. Then chilled at home and in the garden until it was time to head back to the kennels. 🥹

It was a wrench taking her back and seeing her face when I was leaving, but I take heart that it is only for a few days. Dora, you beautiful girl, be good for your human and hope you enjoy your new garden. ❤️
