What our Volunteers say:.
Once on the motorway, he settled well, travelling in the boot of my small car. He fell asleep on the journey home—a 'greyt' passenger.
He wasn’t interested in treats whilst walking. When meeting lots of other greyhounds, he was excited but polite, and there were no issues. He also spent time off the lead with our greyhound in our garden and was well behaved.
He was very interested in other breeds, though he didn’t meet any face to face. I don’t consider him to be reactive, as there was no barking, lunging, or other similar behaviour. However, he was very alert to any running dogs or flying birds, showing his interest by staring and some jumping. I’d say he has a moderate-to-high prey drive.
He is a powerful dog who does pull, so he would need a confident and physically strong owner. He seems to be a confident dog who takes everything in his stride. He is extremely loving and affectionate with people and enjoyed all the fuss and attention, particularly ear rubs! He was curious about children and would perhaps suit a home with older children due to his bouncy nature.
He is just ‘new’ to everything, and with time and patience, I think he would settle really well into his future home.
Mikey says:
He travelled brilliantly in the car, settling down straight away on both journeys. He did need lifting in on the way there but had worked it out by the way back and hopped straight in.
Absolutely nothing bothered him at the fair. He was interested in meeting as many people as possible and was friendly and affectionate. He wasn’t bothered by the goats or children.
He is strong and will need someone who won’t get pulled over. Although I didn’t see any signs of reactivity today, he still pulled me where he wanted to go and needed a strong hand in the crowds.
He was on his best behaviour, though, and I’ve loved spending the day with him.
