What our Volunteers say: Angela

Brought the absolutely stunning Eliza home for a sleepover and what a delight. Picked her up from HRH at 9am and initially put her in the back seat with the hammock cover. She didn't really settle with that and was a little unstable, so I later put her in the back and she was much happier with that and settled down straight away.

I picked my friend up (who instantly fell in love with her as Eliza leant over the seat giving her kisses) and we took her to the Coach House for a coffee and to see how she was with other dogs, as she has been deemed a little sensitive. Well, if you call an extremely whippy tail sensitive, then I'm sure she is! That tail can hurt if you get in the way of it! 😂🥰 Anyway, she met a variety of dogs of all shapes and sizes and not a murmur; she was more curious about the golf carts and buggies. She enjoyed a sausage from the kitchen, but being the independent madam she is, she wanted to eat it by herself and not to be fed, so as you can imagine instead of it being savoured it lasted seconds, but she enjoyed it! 🥓

We then went home where we had a lazy afternoon. She was just happy to play in the garden and then snooze A LOT! 😴 (To be fair, she had a lot of stimulation). I took her on a walk just around my streets to see how she was with traffic, and again she was brilliant. We literally bumped into another dog and nothing—she didn't bat an eyelid. An ambulance and police car went roaring by right next to her and she didn’t even flinch. I was so proud of her!

She didn’t eat a lot whilst with me, but I think she was overwhelmed!

After the walk, she literally went to sleep and didn't get up again until the morning. I don't mind admitting I was a little worried, but she was fine. I covered her with a dressing gown of mine and she was as snug as a bug 🐛. I went to bed about 11pm and put the pet cam on to keep an eye on her and had a nosy about 3am to see her roaching and fast asleep. She woke up properly at about 7am where I got the loveliest greeting. I was pleasantly surprised to see she was clean through the night and went to the back door to ask to be let out!

Whoever has this beautiful girl is one very lucky person! ❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️
