Rapido Annie (Annie)

A beautiful, girl looking for a quiet home.

Rapido Annie (Annie) is a beautiful black female who has recently joined our care. At 4 years and 5 months old, she is a lovely mature girl. Annie is a nervous girl who will take some time to get to know you and allow her true personality to shine, so she is looking for a very patient and understanding family. Most importantly, she is strongly bonded with her friend Boost, and they will need a special forever home together. With a medium energy level, she will appreciate a calm and steady environment. Because she is easily overwhelmed, she is only suited to a home with older children (over 12). She is not suited to a home with cats, and aside from her best friend Boost, she is not good with other dogs. As she is still settling in, many of her assessments—such as housetraining, travelling, and lead walking—are currently unknown.

  • Child friendly: Yes (Over 12s only)

  • Gets on with other dogs: No (Bonded with Boost)

  • Pet friendly: No (Not cat friendly)

  • Personality: Beautiful but nervous, will need time to build trust

  • Ideal home: A quiet, patient home with older children, willing to adopt a bonded pair and help her blossom

What our Volunteers say: Dee

Meet Annie!

This is the lovely Annie (aka Rapido Annie), a traditional black, four-year-old greyhound who has been staying with us for the last week or so.

Annie has been an absolute sweetheart. She loves to be part of the family, enjoys being in the same room as you, and loves attention without being clingy at all. She was fantastic with our visitors, happily greeting them and soaking up all the fuss. We’ve only left her alone for a few minutes at a time—she whined a little bit but didn't bark. In fact, Annie hasn’t barked once the entire time she’s been here!

She slept through the night in the same room as us, and she will clearly ask to go outside whenever she needs to go to the toilet.

Out and About

Annie walks beautifully on her harness most of the time, changing her pace to match yours perfectly. However, she does have a slight stubborn streak! Very occasionally, she will refuse to walk in any direction, just standing still for a few minutes before responding to some gentle encouragement to keep going.

She is definitely interested in meeting other dogs, though she can get a bit skittish if they approach her too quickly. She also shows a lot of interest in cats and squirrels, but it seems to be pure curiosity—she doesn’t pull aggressively towards them, she just wants to watch where they go.

Around the House

While she is perfectly comfortable with the single step down from our front door, she never quite braved the two sets of large decking steps down to the back garden. Instead, she would just stand at the edge of the decking looking down.

Annie coped really well with the recent hot weather, spending most of her time chilling out and moving to cooler spots when she needed to. She would eagerly stand still to be cooled down all over with water, and it really felt like she would come and ask for a cool-down whenever she got too warm. She also absolutely loves being groomed!

She enjoys soft toys and likes to use them as pillows or footrests, but she didn't chew them (or anything else, for that matter). She showed absolutely no signs of guarding her things.

Food and Manners

Annie generally eats well. She wasn't overly keen on tinned dog food or pilchards, but she willingly ate slightly softened kibble mixed with chicken, ham, or raw mince. She wasn't mad about the commercial dog treats we tried, but she absolutely loves cheddar cheese!

One of her absolute best qualities is her incredible manners around humans eating. Even when we sat on the sofa, or when we were eating food she loves (like sausages), she never once pestered us. It is a really wonderful trait.

The Perfect Match

Annie was an absolute angel during her stay, and we have totally fallen in love with her. We have no doubt that with a little patience and time, she will make an amazing, loyal, and rewarding addition to the family. Because she can be a bit skittish if she gets startled, she would do best in a quiet home without young children.

She is just beautiful. xx
