What our Volunteers say:.Ruth
I had a lovely morning out with Rebel today π.
Setting off, he eagerly jumped into the car with his front legs but needed a little assistance with the back ones. I'm wondering if I'd given him a bit more time, if he'd have figured it out for himself?
He stood up going down the drive, but was good, and soon after getting on the road, he lay down and I didn't hear a peep from him until we arrived at Rivington.
He was patient whilst I sorted his leads out and unzipped the door guard, then was happy to jump out. He didn't pull, but strode out at first, then settled into a nice, steady pace. Interested in the sights, sounds, and smells π.
He passed big dogs, little dogs, sheep, and squirrels and was interested but didn't pull. Actually, I tell a lieβhe showed no interest in the sheep at all! π
After the walk, we went to a cafΓ©. Again, he was really well-behaved, even when other dogs came in. I think he was a bit overwhelmed as he was a bit clingy and leant on me. He was panting a bit, so I took his fleece off, and his beautiful colouring was much admired by the staff and the people at a nearby table. Two Homerun Hounds cards were handed out π.
We stayed inside for about 15 to 20 mins, then went to sit outside where there was more space. He settled better, and the fleece went back on.
He stood patiently while I had my sausage and egg barm (I'll never be slim). He didn't show an interest in my food, but later on, he did enjoy the sausage that the ladies had put in a bag for him.
He met some greyhound friends that were also re-homed racers, then we walked back to the car, where he jumped in unaided and lay down straight away! I think he was ready for a rest, bless him.
He didn't move all the way home!
I can't fault him; he has been such a good boy. I'm sure whoever takes him home will be very happy with him π
