Time Counts (Count)

A handsome brindle boy ready to step into his new life.

Time Counts (Count) is a handsome brindle male looking for his forever home. Born in October 2020, he is a wonderful boy at 5 years and 9 months old. Count is a low-energy hound who prefers a relaxed pace of life and travels very well in the car. While he enjoys the company of other dogs, he is quite nervous around cats and will need a feline-free home. When he is out and about on his lead, he can be a bit strong, so he will appreciate an owner who is comfortable guiding him on his daily strolls. We are currently still assessing his suitability with children, but with his human friends, he is a lovely boy ready to make a fantastic companion.

What our Volunteers say: Lisa

I had the pleasure of taking Count out for the day to assess him in a home environment and out and about in everyday situations, and he was an absolute delight.

He needed a little lift into the car, but once settled he travelled beautifully. On arriving at the house, he was naturally inquisitive, happily exploring his surroundings. He had no issues at all with the stairs, confidently going up and down without hesitation.

We enjoyed a long walk together, and Count took everything in his stride. He was interested in the world around him but never overwhelmed. He met other dogs politely, greeting them calmly before moving on. He was incredibly friendly with people and children, always gentle and well-mannered. His beautiful brindle coat attracted lots of compliments, and he certainly turned plenty of heads.

Busy roads, traffic and walking through town didn’t faze him in the slightest. He remained calm on the footpaths, never pulling or rushing. We visited a couple of shops where he was fussed by lots of people, and he accepted all the attention with his usual calm, polite nature.

We also stopped at a café, where Count settled well and thoroughly enjoyed his pup cup!

Back at the house, despite being invited onto the sofa, he chose to curl up on the floor for a well-earned snooze. One thing we did discover is that he’s not particularly interested in dog treats—but he definitely has a soft spot for crumpets!

Later in the day, he spotted both a cat and some squirrels. He simply looked at them with mild interest and then carried on with his walk, showing no inclination to chase.

Throughout the day, people repeatedly commented on how calm, gentle and handsome he is, and I couldn’t agree more.

Count does show some separation anxiety and is very much a Velcro dog who enjoys being close to his people. However, once he feels settled and secure, and potentially in a home with another dog for company, I think he will absolutely flourish. He is a wonderfully affectionate, calm and easy-going Greyhound who will make an incredibly loyal and loving companion for the right home.
